Why this blog exists
Bournemouth has been under-served by editorial coverage. The national travel press treats the South Coast as an afterthought, the local press has its hands full with civic news, and the aggregators publish thin listicles assembled from public information.
FlexieNews exists to fill that gap with first-hand reporting, properly sourced guides and the kind of local knowledge that only comes from living and hosting here every day. Our editors visit the restaurants, walk the beaches, sit through the symphony concerts and stand in the Air Festival crowd. The articles reflect that.
Our editorial standards
- Named authors. Every article is written or edited by a named person with a real profile and real local credentials.
- Sources cited, dates visible. Factual claims link to a primary source where one exists. Every article shows when it was published and when it was last checked.
- First-hand where it matters. Reviews come from visits. Where we have not been, we say so rather than pretend.
- British English, no hype. No "amazing", no "must-see", no "best-kept secret". Specifics instead: walking times, opening seasons, what it costs.
- Prices and hours are hedged. Anything that changes often is marked as checked on a date, or left to the venue's own page.
- AI is a tool, not an author. Where drafting is assisted, a named editor reviews and signs off every word before it publishes.
Who publishes FlexieNews
FlexieNews is published by Flexiestays (Flexie Stays Ltd, company number 15208026), an independent aparthotel operator in Bournemouth since 2018. We run 8 hotels and 130 self-contained apartments on and around the West Cliff, bookable direct at flexiestays.com. The blog and the booking platform are run by the same small team.
Booking direct is around 15% cheaper than the major platforms and we say so in our guides where it is relevant. We do not run sponsored content from other accommodation, online travel agents or aggregators, and the links in our articles are editorial choices, never paid placements.
