Cherries win first ever European match, 2-1 at Real Sociedad

AFC Bournemouth won the first European match in the club's history on Thursday night, beating Real Sociedad 2-1 in San Sebastián in the opening round of the Europa League league phase. It was also Marco Rose's first win since taking over as head coach, TNT Sports reported.

Rose praised the intensity of the performance afterwards and called the night a huge achievement for the club, according to Goal. Bournemouth qualified for Europe for the first time by finishing in the club's highest ever league position in 2025-26 under Andoni Iraola, who left for Liverpool in the summer.
