Coach tour trade to meet in Bournemouth this November

More than 120 coach tourism professionals are coming to Bournemouth in November for the Coach Tourism Association's Winter Networking event. The Coach Tourism Association (CTA), the UK trade body for coach holiday operators and the hotels, attractions and destinations that supply them, will base the event at the Hilton Bournemouth from 21 to 23 November 2026, as reported by the Bournemouth Echo on 24 September.

The association first confirmed Bournemouth as host in May. It is a return visit: the CTA held the same event in the town in November 2022, when delegates took in a Christmas market during their trips.

What happens at the event?

The weekend is a buying trip for tour operators. They see places they could sell to their customers, then meet the suppliers in person, so a hotel, attraction or cruise company can pitch directly to the people who fill coaches. The CTA describes it as business development and networking for its operator members.

According to the CTA's booking announcement, buyers could choose a pre-event trip on Saturday 21 November, either a New Forest stay with a visit to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu or a Bournemouth night on the East Cliff. The Echo reports that the New Forest option has already sold out.

Sunday is open to all delegates. The programme includes Kingston Lacy, the National Trust house near Wimborne, lunch at a Bournemouth hotel and a cruise with Coastal Cruises Poole, with coach travel provided by an operator member. A networking dinner follows, and a supplier workshop on the Monday morning closes the event.

Why does coach tourism matter out of season?

Coach groups travel when families cannot. Operators run tours from autumn through to spring, often built around Christmas markets, lights, shows and hotel breaks, so every group booked for November or February fills rooms and restaurant tables that would otherwise sit empty. For a seaside town, that is the difference between a long quiet winter and a steady one.

CTA chair Robert Shaw told the Echo that Bournemouth is a classic coach destination with plenty to offer in winter and over the festive season. What it means for visitors and local businesses

For anyone staying in Bournemouth that weekend, expect a busier Hilton and a few more coaches around the Lower Gardens and the East Cliff, nothing more. The bigger effect comes later: if operators add Bournemouth to their 2027 brochures, more groups will arrive in the colder months.
